REVEREND ARCHIE THEODORE EVANS
MEBANE-Reverend Archie Theodore Evans, 67, of 1212 N. Frazier Road went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at UNC Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of George Arch Evans and Blanch Arzelia Fuller Evans, both deceased, and the husband of Katherine Lumpkin Evans, who survives.
Rev. Evans was also preceded in death by one brother, Reginald McArthur Evans.
Rev. Evans went on to serve as Pastor of St. James A.M.E. Church in Oak Ridge, NC, Woods Chapel A.M.E. Church in Graham, NC and spent the last thirty two years as pastor of Rock Creek A.M.E. Church in Snow Camp.
In addition to his wife of the home, Reverend Evans is survived by four daughters, Christie Evans Graves, Artrina Richmond both of Mebane; Bridget Evans of Greensboro; Dr. Kitnequa Ford (Rev. Dwight) of Iowa; three brothers, Lyle Evans of Burlington; Alton Evans (Trang) of Minnesota; Darryl Evans of Raleigh; one sister, Alfreda Evans of Efland; seven grandchildren, Trinity Graves, LJ Graves, Brysen Chavis, Idalis Chavis, Jakyrus McKinnon, Amani Ford, Justice Ford; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rev. Evans' funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Rock Creek A.M.E. Church with Reverend Myratte McGibboney officiating and the Right Reverend James L. Davis, Servant Bishop, performing his eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church and all other times at the home.
A public viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 1-5:00 pm.
