MR. JOHN JUNIUS BLACKWELL

BURLINGTON-Mr. John Junius Blackwell, 76, of 233 Howard Street, beloved father, brother, and friend passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023.

A native of Alamance County he was the son of Mr. George Junior Blackwell and Mrs. Beatrice Daye Blackwell, both deceased.

John was also preceded in death by five sisters, Gerarldine Blackwell Marley, Jewell Carmen Thaxton, Phae Blackwell Miles, Marie Blackwell and Martha Ann Blackwell Whitted.

John leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Marilyn Wright, Sarah Miles both of New York; Myra Blackwell of Knightdale; one brother, Odis Blackwell of Burlington; two sisters, Catherine Byrd of Winston Salem; Brenda B. White of Burlington; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

John’s funeral will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:30 am at Ebenezer United Church of Christ with Dr. Larry E. Covington officiating.

The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the funeral service at the church.

John’s public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 1-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
