Mr. Alton David Rogers, Jr.

BURLINGTON- Mr. Alton David Rogers, Jr., 79, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Cone Health at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

David, as he was mostly called, was a native of Alamance County and the son of the late Mr. Alton David Rogers Sr. and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Rogers. 

David graduated from Jordan Sellars High School in 1962.  He was known as a star basketball player at school, and he was also a lifeguard on the swim team. 

After graduation, David served his country by joining the United States Army.  For three years he was a Paratrooper.  He received a Parachutist Badge, Armed Forces Expedition Medal, and a Combat Infantry Badge. 

David enjoyed fishing, swimming and watching sports on television.  In 1985 he used to be a Transit Bus Driver in Los Angeles, California.   He later moved back to his hometown and worked at GKN Driveline Automotive in Mebane, NC as a Machinist for twelve years before retirement.  A few years later, he picked up a part time job at Donnie’s Car Wash before his health started to decline years later. 

In addition to his parents David was predeceased by two brothers, Kurt Rogers and Benny Rogers. 

David leaves cherished memories to his devoted daughter and caregiver, Felicia Eubanks (Durell) of Burlington, NC; two sons, Timothy Rogers (Cheryl) and David Rogers of Hempstead, NY; three granddaughters, Areeon Eubanks, Zynah Eubanks of the home and Zadella Rogers of Hempstead, NY; a special cousin, Paul Kirkpatrick and a host of other relatives and friends. 

A family visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 12:00-6:00 pm at the funeral home.  Military rites for David will be held at 3:00 pm.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 1:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
