DEACON NELSON “CHUCK” BERNARD GARNER
BURLINGTON-Deacon Nelson “Chuck” Garner, 71, of 238 Bradley Street, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Durham VA Medical Center.
A native of Randolph County, Nelson was the son of Mr. William Lee Garner, Sr. and Mrs. Cozy Mae Isley Garner, both deceased and the husband of Gladys Bradsher Garner, who survives.
In addition to Nelson’s parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Thomas and Billie Faye Garner, Brenda and Betty-Ann Garner; and two brothers, Weldon and William, Jr.
With cherished and loving memories, Nelson is survived by his wife, Gladys Bradsher Garner of the home; one son, Chad Garner of Graham; two daughters, LaTosha Malloy (William) of Winston Salem; Brandi Vereen (Tony) of Oklahoma; one brother, Reverend Harold Garner (Jessie) of Snow Camp; three sisters, Kaye Free (William) and Minister Vickie Peoples, both of Greensboro and Pastor Sharon Terrell of Burlington; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nelson’s funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Bary Gray officiating and Pastor Harold D. Garner delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites performed.
A public viewing will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the funeral home from 1:00-7:00 pm.
Social distancing will be observed and a mask is required.
